Max Baer Jr. is seeking a license for a Beverly Hillbillies-themed casino in North Las Vegas - but he isnt giving up on his dream for a similar casino in Nevada's capital city.
Baer, who played the doltish Jethro Bodine in 'The Beverly Hillbillies' television series, will appear before the state Gaming Control Board on Wednesday seeking licensing as a part-owner of The Beverly Hillbillies Gambler Casino.
Baer also owns a former Wal-Mart location here. But his proposed Jethros Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino at the location - which would include a 200-foot flaming oil derrick at the entrance - has been opposed by other tenants in the shopping center.
Baer has a 10 percent stake in Johnny Maxx Inc., the company requesting licensing for the Gambler in North Las Vegas. John Karras has a 90 percent share in the company.
